Can you handle the carnage?

Fantasy Rugby Draft is a different kind of rugby fantasy game. With the clock ticking, can you handle the pressure of a live, real-time Fantasy Rugby Draft? This is done at the beginning of the season, where you and nine others battle it out for the best players to make up your dream team. The catch? The players are only available to one manager. You either get the player you want, or someone else gets him. Then it's about trading players from either the other managers in the league, or finding hidden gems in the public vault known as the waivers. If you haven't played FRD before, check out the "FRD How To Play" page.
Pink Slips is FRD is crazy-mode. Every week, managers square up against another (as in usual Fantasy Rugby Draft), but after the weekend's round, the loser has to give up a player to the victorious manager. Simple. Unless there is a tie. Then total carnage ensues. See the nitty-gritties to find out more! The victorious manager chooses the players who gets traded, and the loser sucks it up, and tries to get the win the following week.

F.R.D. PINK SLIPS
NITTY GRITTIES
Understanding the finer side of the ruthless game:

  1. In each game-week match-up, the losing manager HAS to trade away the locked-out player* that the winning manager chooses before the next week’s waiver-wire run*.
  2. Traded players can ONLY be from each team’s starting 11 for that week. The winning manager chooses BOTH the player to be traded out of his team as well as the player to be traded in.
  3. Trades can be made after the league tables have been updated and the victory has been confirmed (for match-ups that are close). If a manager knows he has lost/won, trades can be made before the league table has been updated (if both parties agree).
  4. Managers may only initiate regular trades with other managers or the Player Hub (ie. not the Pink Slips trades) after the waiver has run and the Pink Slips trades have been processed and accepted. Managers violating this are subject to penalties.
  5. Single positions (Front Row [FR], Lock, Half Back [HB], and Fly Half [FH]) can only be traded for its kind. The rest can be cross-traded, ie. Loose forward can be traded for a mid or outside back, or vice versa.*
  6. If a losing manager fields less than 6 players, the winning manager may pick any of the losing manager’s players (according to the positions fielded by the winning manager), including those on the bench. Direct positional trades are in effect here, though.
  7. TEAM SWAP: In the event of a tie/draw, both managers must trade away their full starting lineup. The only exclusions are when the opposition doesn’t field a player, ie. if he doesn’t play a Lock, then he doesn’t get one traded in return. Similarly, if only two outside backs (OB) are played on Team A and 3 are fielded on Team B, the manager A can choose which two OB’s they will trade over. Direct positional trades are strictly ahdered to in this respect.
  8. Pink-Slips will still take place during the playoffs, for the first semi-final. Unfortunately, the winner of the 2nd semi-final won’t get a trade before the final, as the loser will be eliminated and unable to trade away.
  9. The “Sacko” playoff is also in effect for the finals (playoffs for the bottom 4 teams).
  10. The loser of the Sacko (earning the title of the Wooden Spoonist) is required to purchase League PRO for next year’s tournament. If it’s a new league, all players are to pool resources to pay for League PRO. Players relegated to a lower division are still required to pay for League Pro which they were relegated from. Payments are payable to the league commissioner, Justin Vermeulen (Justincredibles).

* For 15-man leagues (such as Euro Pink Slips) where the team lineup is expanded to include every position, the only interchangeable positional trades are for: Outside Backs, Midfielders & Loose Forwards and then between locks and props.

* A review is currently in place with the possibility of only direct positional swaps being allowed. A league testing this feature is to be decided.
